Here’s What You Should Know

Couples Counseling of Denver provides in person couples therapy in Denver or virtually across Colorado. If you don’t see your question listed here, reach out to Cara.

Yes! Couples Counseling of Denver offers appointments Tuesday through Saturday, with some evenings available.

We do not accept insurance. Most insurance companies do not consider couples therapy medically necessary and require a mental health diagnosis to provide coverage. That diagnosis would be attached to one partner’s medical record. By staying private-pay, we’re able to protect your confidentiality and focus entirely on your relationship — not a diagnosis.
Couples sessions are $250 for 60 minutes, $375 for 90 minutes, and $500 for 120 minutes. You’re welcome to choose the length that fits your needs.

Denver couples therapy isn’t just for partners in crisis — it’s for anyone who wants to strengthen their relationship. Maybe you’re feeling distant or stuck in a cycle you can’t break. Or maybe you’re doing well and want to build a stronger foundation for the future. Whether you’re navigating conflict, preparing for a big life transition, or simply wanting to feel more connected, therapy can support your goals at any stage.

Every session is tailored to your relationship. You’ll talk openly — with guidance — about what’s working, what isn’t, and where you want to go from here. Cara provides structure, perspective, and practical tools to help you and your partner hear each other clearly and move forward with intention.

Yes. It’s common for one partner to feel more ready than the other, and you’re still welcome to come in together.

If your partner isn’t willing to come into couples therapy, we encourage you to come in by yourself. Individual sessions can help you explore your feelings, gain new perspectives, and develop tools to improve communication — whether or not your partner eventually joins. Taking this step for yourself can be powerful and may even open the door to joint counseling down the road.

It’s normal to feel uncertain about the future of your relationship. Couples counseling can help you explore those feelings with honesty and care. For couples who are undecided about whether to stay together or separate, discernment counseling is a specialized approach designed to support you in making a thoughtful, informed decision.

Whether you decide to rebuild your relationship or part ways respectfully, therapy provides a safe space to gain clarity and move forward with confidence.

Not at all. Many couples come to therapy simply to strengthen their relationship, prepare for a major life change, or deepen their connection. You don’t have to wait for things to get bad to seek support.

Cara’s role isn’t to pick a side — it’s to help both of you feel seen and understood. She holds space for each partner while keeping the focus on your relationship as a whole. That said, a good therapist will point out behaviors and patterns that may be hurting your relationship. The goal is to help you both understand what’s happening so you can move forward together.

Every therapist brings their own approach, and every season of your relationship is unique. If you’ve tried counseling before and it didn’t feel helpful, that’s not uncommon. Sometimes the fit wasn’t right, the timing wasn’t ideal, or the approach didn’t align with your needs.

We focus on creating a safe space where both partners can be honest and feel truly supported. Cara listens carefully to your story and tailors sessions to meet you where you are, helping you build understanding and connection. With patience and openness, couples therapy can open new paths for healing and growth.

Start Your Journey Together

It’s not about stopping conflict. It’s not about pretending everything’s okay. It’s not about fixing each other. It’s about showing up honestly and growing closer. Whether in person or virtually, Couples Counseling of Denver offers compassionate support tailored to where you are right now. Book an appointment, or get started with a 15-minute consultation with Cara to see if we’re the right fit.
